Frequently Asked Questions

Concert Map is a map-based tool for discovering live music. It helps you find upcoming concerts for your favorite artists anywhere in the world, making it easy to plan trips around shows or discover music while you travel. Concert Map can optionally connect with your music streaming accounts like Spotify or Last.fm to create a personalized map of events tailored to you.

Personalizing the map shows you the most relevant events and makes it easy to see which of your favorite artists are playing at festivals. You have three options:

• 1. Upload Your Spotify History (Recommended): This is the best way to get a complete and accurate list of your top artists.
  1. Go to Spotify's Privacy page. Scroll down to "Download your data". Uncheck the box for "Select Account data" and check the box for "Extended streaming history". Then click "Request Data".
  
  2. Spotify will send you an email asking you to confirm the data request. Click the button in the email to confirm the request.
  
  3. The data request may take several hours. Once ready, Spotify will send you another email with a link to download your data as a zip file.
  
  4. In Concert Map, click "Import Your Favorite Artists" and choose the "Spotify History Upload" option. You do not need to unzip the file.
• 2. Connect Your Last.fm Account: If you are an active Last.fm user, you can connect your account to automatically sync your top artists.
• 3. Add Artists Manually: Use the search bar to find any artist, then click the star icon ⭐️ next to their name to save them to your list.

You can manage your artists and data sources at any time by clicking the settings icon ⚙️ next to the "My Artists" tab.

The application has two main views, accessible via the tabs at the top of the page:

• My Artists: This is your personalized view. It only shows events for artists you have imported (from Spotify/Last.fm) or manually saved. This is the default view and is perfect for seeing a map tailored specifically to you.
• All Artists: This view shows every upcoming concert we have in our database. It's great for general music discovery or exploring the music scene in a new city.

Spotify recently tightened their API access policies, introducing stricter criteria for new applications to gain general access. While we work towards meeting these requirements, direct Spotify connection is limited to a small number of registered beta testers.

For the best experience, we recommend all users import their artists by requesting their "Extended streaming history" from Spotify, as described in the personalization section above.

If you would still like to be added as a beta tester to connect your account directly, please let us know via our feedback form.

Your privacy is very important to us. When you upload your Spotify "Extended streaming history" zip file, it is processed entirely within your browser. The file is never sent to our servers. We extract a ranked list of your top artists locally on your machine.

The resulting artist list is stored only in your browser's local storage, and you can delete it at any time from the control panel. For more details, please see our full Privacy Policy.

We do our best to show a comprehensive list of upcoming events by using data from a number of sources, but our database is not exhaustive and some events may be missing.

If you notice a missing event or an error in our listings, please let us know through our feedback form. Your feedback helps us improve our data quality!

The search bar supports two types of queries:

• Artists: Type an artist's name to find them.
• Locations: Type a city, state, or country to pan the map to that area.

We do not currently support searching for venues or genres. If this is a feature you'd like to see, please let us know!
